Michigan has two foreclosure lanes. Choose the option below that matches how your case started.
Michigan Foreclosure by Advertisement (Non-Judicial)
Use this if your foreclosure is moving through notice, publication, and sheriff’s sale rather than starting as a normal court lawsuit. This is the more common residential foreclosure lane in Michigan.
Choose this option if:
You were not served with a normal foreclosure complaint filed in court.
You received notices about default, publication, sale, or sheriff’s sale.
The process appears to be moving toward a sheriff’s sale instead of a standard court case.
Use this if the lender filed a foreclosure lawsuit in court and you were formally served with court papers such as a summons and complaint.
Choose this option if:
You were served with a summons and complaint or other court foreclosure papers.
Your case has a court caption, case number, and named court.
The foreclosure is moving through a lawsuit rather than only through notice, publication, and sheriff’s sale.
Choose the version that matches how your case started. If you were served with court papers, use the judicial version. If the process is moving through notice and sheriff’s sale instead of a court complaint, use the non-judicial version.
